• The Explorease consumer app (available on iOS and Android)
• The Explorease Business app (available on iOS and Android)

Explorease is a travel super-app connecting travelers and locals to places to stay, events, and things to do — starting in Kigali, Rwanda and expanding across East Africa.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Give Us

All users (consumer app and website):

• Full name, email address, and password when you create an account
• Profile photo if you choose to upload one
• Search queries and preferences within the app
• Reviews and ratings you submit
• Messages or enquiries you send through our contact form or in-app support

Travelers making bookings:

• Payment information — we do not store your full card details; payments are processed securely by our third-party payment processor
• Booking details including dates, property or event, and number of guests

Business app users (hosts and event organizers):

• Business name, description, and contact details
• Property or event listing details including photos, pricing, and availability
• Payout and bank account information for receiving payments — handled securely by our payment processor
• Identity verification documents where required during onboarding
• Booking and transaction history

3.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use our apps or visit our website, we automatically collect:

• Device information — device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
• Location data — with your permission, we use your device location to show you relevant places, events, and listings nearby. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time. If location permission is denied, core features such as nearby discovery will not function fully
• IP address and approximate location derived from it
• App usage data — screens viewed, features used, time spent, and actions taken within the app
• Crash reports and performance data — to help us identify and fix issues and improve the app experience
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website — see Section 9 (Cookies)

3.3 Information From Third Parties

We may receive limited information about you if you choose to sign in using a third-party service such as Google or Apple. This is limited to what that service shares with us — typically your name and email address.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Process bookings and payments between travelers and hosts
• Send booking confirmations, receipts, and important account notifications
• Facilitate payouts to hosts and event organizers
• Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries
• Show you relevant listings, events, and places based on your location and preferences
• Improve, maintain, and develop our apps and services
• Monitor and ensure the safety, security, and integrity of our platform
• Detect and prevent fraud or misuse
• Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
• Send you service-related communications — you can opt out of non-essential communications at any time through your account settings

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.

5. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only where necessary to operate our platform:

Between travelers and hosts: When a booking is made, the relevant booking details are shared between the traveler and the host to enable the stay or experience. This includes name, contact information, and booking specifics.

With service providers: We work with trusted third-party companies to help us operate our platform. These include:

• Payment processors — to handle transactions and host payouts securely
• Cloud hosting providers — our infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform, which store and process data on our behalf
• Analytics providers — to help us understand how our apps are used and improve them
• Customer support tools — to help us respond to your enquiries efficiently

All service providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the specific purposes we have authorised.

For legal reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent physical harm, financial loss, or illegal activity.

Business transfers: In the event that Explorease is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

6. Payment Information

Payments on Explorease — including bookings and host payouts — are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store your full payment card details or bank account numbers on our own servers. All payment data is handled in accordance with applicable payment security standards (PCI-DSS). Your payout details as a host are stored securely and used solely to transfer your earnings to you.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.

If you delete your account — either through the in-app account deletion feature or by contacting us — we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or financial compliance purposes.

Booking and transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with applicable financial regulations.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Objection — object to certain uses of your information
• Restriction — request that we limit how we process your information in certain circumstances
• Portability — request a copy of your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format

To delete your account: You can delete your account directly within the Explorease app through your account settings. Alternatively, you may email us at info@explorease.tech with the subject line “Account Deletion Request” and we will process your request within 30 days.

9. Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help the site function correctly, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site.

Types of cookies we use:

• Essential cookies — required for the website to function. These cannot be disabled
• Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it

You can control or disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how the website functions.

Our mobile apps do not use browser cookies but may use similar technologies such as device identifiers and local storage for app functionality and performance analytics.

10. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. 11. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include encryption of data in transit (TLS), secure cloud infrastructure through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform, and strict access controls within our team.

No system is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@explorease.tech.

12. International Users and Data Transfers

Explorease is based in Kigali, Rwanda. Your information is stored and processed on servers hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform, which may be located in various countries.

If you access our services from outside Rwanda — including from the European Union or United Kingdom — your information will be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure such transfers comply with applicable data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Rwanda.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Where changes are significant, we will notify you through the app or by email. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
